Our Company

Delft Blue operates three meat-processing plants that have full HACCP programs.

In a little over a decade, Delft Blue has gone from shipping 90% of its meat production in carcass form, to shipping 90% as counter ready product. Much of our current product is shipped in MAP (modified atmosphere packaging) ensuring an increase in shelf life of their products as well as providing an attractive see through package allowing the purchaser to readily see what they are buying.
MAP packaging reduced the need for further processing at the supermarket level, and allows for delivery seven days a week in many delivery areas. This further ensures freshness and quality for the consumer while reducing supermarket cost.
Delft Blue also produces many value-added products such as: veal rolls, dressed chops, sausage and other high value, ready to use products. Also, microwave or oven ready products ensure healthy and delicious meals for the increasingly busy consumers.

The Grober – Delft Blue Group

Grober Inc., is a feed producer that specializes in producing high quality milk based feed to meet the demands of veal in Canada and the United States of America.

Delft Blue Farms is the farming division that ensures the growth of high quality grown calves.

Delft Blue is the meat processing division.

Integration of all three companies is major key in providing many quality products.
Since Grober -Delft Blue has control of veal from the start to finish, this will ensure a higher quality product.

Controlling the consistency and quality of veal products allows Delft Blue to become major exporters of veal products.

Several years ago, Delft Blue recognized the need to produce high quality meat with consistent color, taste and texture, all of which are very important to the consumer.

Delft Blue then began to systematically integrate their business. The major goal was to control the product from farm to plate. Everything Delft Blue has done, then and now, has ensured that goal has been accomplished. Meeting the needs of the consumers by providing a higher quality product is very important in today’s market.

Grober Inc is a feed producer that specializes in milk-based young animal feeds that services the veal and milk replacer needs of Canada. Delft Blue (meat processing division) was the next step in the process. It was not long before the need, to create a steady supply of high quality animal feed, was necessary. Delft Blue Farms then began to develop the farming operations. In the beginning, it was necessary to ensure a constant supply of product in the market.
Today, Delft Blue Farms is an important and integral part of Grober/Delft Blue’s total service concept. The farming division has become the standard of innovation in the Canadian Veal Industry. Today, calves grown are second to none in the world for quality. Such quality is a result of superior technology as well as paying close attention to the nutritional needs of the animals.

In a business that is often (incorrectly) criticized for its husbandry practices, Delft Blue Farms have been a ‘stand out’ in the development of modern raising methods.

In the Delft Blue Farm system, the traditional stall method of raising veal calves are the predominant management technique.
However, a lot of research is currently being conducted on open pen housing, allowing calves roam free and socialize. The development, and use, of automated feeding equipment has made this possible.

Each calf, in this system, has an ear tag attached with a computer chip. This chip allows the farm employees to predetermine the amount of feed a calf will receive. Allowing every calf to get the level of feed required for optimum comfort and growth.

Factors effecting the calves’ health, temperature, weight and other critical management information will be continuously recorded throughout the calves’ lives.

Delft Blue Farms are also a leader in new innovations, such as lighting and air circulation in veal barns. Ground heat and coolness are utilized to enhance barn comfort since air movement is essential for comfort and animal health. Delft Blue Farms have also been the primary developer for new building concepts as well as creating new equipment for feeding and managing all calves.

The environment has not escaped the attention of the researchers at Delft Blue Farms. For example, a system has been developed that allows the reuse of manure water in barn cleaning processes. Therefore, the manure will undergo a process to reduce the organic nutrients and allow for safe return to crops. Not only has this process helped the environment, but has also reduced the manure’s odors.

Introduction to open-pen/group housing has made managing calves a lot easier for the farm employees by allowing less time on cumbersome feeding tasks associated with stall operations. Therefore, Delft Blue Farms calf managers are capable of spending more time on development of new ideas.

Grober Inc. also has many new innovations that ensure higher quality and greater nutritional benefits for all veal feeds and milk replacers. Grober’s exclusive and unique Freeze Crystallization process ensures the maximization of energy in their feed products.

The high tech Grober Inc. feed plant, combined with a labor friendly work place, allows for total automated fail safe production system.

Quality assurance is one of Grober Inc.’s top priorities.

Everything from plant design to employee training is geared to ensuring a quality feed product.

Grober Inc. is the only milk replacer manufacture that uses only edible grade energy and protein to produce their products.
